About
The Department of Education was established in the year 1974 and is situated in the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Bhavan, Vidyanagari, Kalina, Mumbai 400098. The Department conducts Post Graduate degree, diploma and certificate courses as well as Doctoral Course in Education.

MISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT
Our students are to become effective and thinking individuals, actively engaged in life-long learning, problem-solving with a quest for knowledge, who are able to use their abilities and skills to realize their roles in society.
AIMS OF THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Education endeavours to:
- Promote academic excellence and strive to provide quality education. It aims at building a community of teachers and teacher educators possessing a sound theoretical base in the discipline of Education, an ability to analytically examine and evaluate the knowledge acquired and apply the same in their respective fields.
- Develop a research orientation among students, teachers, and teacher educators, train them in research methodology; develop skills for conducting and guiding research and facilitating the dissemination of research findings among the researchers in education.
- Train middle-level managers of education to effectively manage self and the educational institution in their charge.
- Reach out to other educational institutions in the areas of Teaching Technologies, Research Methodology in Social Sciences and Education Management.

The Department of Education is one-storeyed building with following rooms:
- LECTURE ROOMS:
The department has three lecture rooms for holding classes for M.Ed., M.A. (Education), Diploma and other certificate programmes. All the rooms have LCD projectors, desktops, internet facility and white boards.
- CONFERENCE ROOM:
The department’s conference room on the ground floor is well-equipped with computer, television and internet connectivity. The space is designed for meetings, presentations and collaborative sessions. It features a large central table with comfortable chairs to accommodate a group of approximately 60-70 participants. This dedicated area provides a professional environment to hold conferences, seminars, research paper readings, academic related meetings and guest lectures.
- READING ROOM:
The Department has a reading room that provides access to more than 400 books and 500 theses, dissertations, and project reports. Students and faculty can use these resources for quick reference. The collection includes all M.Ed., M.Phil., and Ph.D. dissertations/theses, as well as PGDME Project Reports completed within the department.
- COMPUTER ROOM:
The Department has a well-maintained Computer laboratory with computers along with internet facility for the students of the Department.
- OFFICE ROOM:
The department office is fully equipped with computers, internet access, printers, photocopy machines and other technical accessories. The non-teaching staff has personal tables and computers to complete the office related work. The various files, registers and stationeries are well maintained from time to time.
- HEAD’S AND FACULTY ROOMS:
The Head of the Department and each faculty member has a private, well-equipped room with a desktop computer, printer, internet access and air-conditioners.
- SPECIAL-PEOPLE FRIENDLY (DIYANGJAN):
The department building has two ramps and is accessible for students or visitors with physical disabilities and washrooms available for their use.

- WASH ROOMS:
The department has total 5 washrooms for male and female students and staff on each floor. The cleanliness and hygiene are maintained by supporting staff of the department daily. Additionally, the department provides a water cooler which is cleaned regularly.
- VISITORS’ ROOM:
The department provides a comfortable room for visitors. This space is equipped with chairs and tables, offering a convenient area for guests to wait or meet.
