Objective:

  • To create awareness among the youth of Maharashtra about aims and objective, procedures and relative advantage of various competitive examination particularly civil services examination.
  •  To inculcate in them the culture of serving the community and the nation.
  •  To plan and conduct coaching and training programmes for successful participation in the competitive examination.
  • To muster support for conduct of coaching form eminent administrator, academician and professional expert from management, training and research institutions.

About Us

The Academy for Administrative careers of University of Mumbai was established in 2003 with the objective of providing academic facilities to the students of aspiring for administrative careers. The academy aims at creating awareness and interest among the students about civil services, and ensure that an increasing number of youth from Maharashtra gets represented in the services as the academy has been conducting coaching/training  programmes for the civil services examination for all students.

Academy aims at taping the talent in students, encouraging them to appear for civil services examination and helping them to improve their preparation for the examination. It also aims at inculcating, in them, the culture of serving the community as a whole.

Part XIV of the Indian Constitution, devoted to the Civil Services under the Union & the State, deals with the recruitment and conditions of services of the All India Services, mode of appointment, functions etc, of the UPSC and state Public Services commission subject to provisions of the constitution, parliament is empowered to regulate the recruitment & conditions of the Civil Servants.

Civil services assume high honour and recognition apart from challenges and job satisfaction. Civil servants play an important role in making suggestions to the policy makers and implementing the polices made by the government. Therefore, it assumes a prime media for services to the nation and the human society as a whole.

Young graduates set with such high objectives and goal for civil services need proper guidance for preparing these examinations. In view of the fact that to promote/inculcate good thoughts for human quality, meticulous planning and confidence amongst the students of the University for high quality job opportunities, the University of Mumbai has established this Academy for Administrative Careers for providing guidance to the candidates aiming to appear for Civil Service Examinations conducted by UPSC, New Delhi.

In the year 2019, University of Mumbai has made MoU with Tribal Research and Training Institute, Pune (Government of Maharashtra) for conducting Guidance programs of UPSC/MPSC competitive Examinations for the batch of 25 Scheduled Tribes students every year.

Facilities

It has been observed that during the time of preparation, the most challenging task for a candidate is to find good materials in a single place. It is a very time consuming and cumbersome affair for them. So to sort-out this problem, The Academy has good collection of study material from various authentic sources in the form of books, magazines reports etc in addition to the huge collection of books and reading material in Jawaharlal Nehru Central Library of the University and internet facilities to access huge resources and study material.

One of the greatest advantage for joining AAC will be the sanctum sanctorum of any academic institution i.e library. The University library is one of the largest library in the city having approx 14 lakh books & 700 journals and other modern facilities.

A list of following few important journals useful for Civil Services aspirants available in university library will reveal the richness of this resource materials for the candidates.

Conducting Trainings, seminars, workshops. For UPSC / MPSC Civil Services examination.
Conducting remedial courses for under privileged group of society.
Conducting short term coaching courses for NET/SET examinations
Conducting crash courses for specific target groups.

Guidance Programmes :

AAC organizing guiding sessions, discussions and seminars. During the course, more weightage given for the interaction of the candidates with the faculties. Periodic tests are conducted to assess the performance of the candidates. Critical appraisal is made on the basis of tests to suggest improvements in the preparation.

Guest lectures by resource persons of eminence in the field of administration, academics, industry and media etc are organized.

Admission Procedure AAC:

The Civil Service aspirants, appearing for CSP, 2022 and wish to seek admission at AAC, are hereby informed that, applications for admission to Guidance session at AAC are invited.

Admission process will be online for the academic year 2021-2022. The entrance examination will be taken by following government guidelines for Covid-19 as well as an Interview will be conducted as per government guidelines by AAC for the candidates appearing for Civil Services Examination 2022.

Syllabus prescribed by UPSC for Civil Services (prelim) 2015 will be the basis of the test.

Candidates based on merit, will be short listed and called for personality test and then admitted.

Course Details: –

UPSC/MPSC coaching at AAC is a full time programme. Eight months course.

Class days- Friday to Sunday & Time 9:00 AM. To 1:00 PM

Library Open at 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Education Qualification: Any degree holder or a student who has appeared for final semester / final year exam of degree from a recognized university by UGC.
